Notice-
Contrast ratios are not very standardized and should not be a
major influence when buying your television! You can check this
yourself by going down a local TV retail. If you notice the contrast
ratios will vary widely from TV to TV and yet the image will look the same.
This is due to the fact that TVs with lower contrast ratios can use
visual tricks that make pictures appear much livelier or bright. This
use of software rendering technique in different TV models, is what
should really be advertised, but hey who wants to be told their TV is
tricking their eyes?

This TV has a contrast definition up to par with higher up 800-900$
Models. It is by far not a reason not to buy this.

For the price this is a lot to ask, However this TV has almost
all of it! This tv is 42" which was nice and makes it seem much
bigger in your bedroom, then my previous 37" TV. The 1080P looks
Amazing! I did not realize this until I played a couple of blu-ray
movies through my PS3(I have standard Comcast HD cable which is 70+ch
SD and 20- ch HD). The HD is of high quality and looks as it is meant to
look(unlike many Samsung TV).

Cons:
My only complaint would be the lack of
commands on the remote. It has all your basic needs such as
channels/volume -+ and your channel numbers. However such as a
button to control your TV's display settings is no where to be
found or even a closed caption button. No sleep timer button,
nothing. The remote is nice and looks slick with a grey Diamond
button layout on a black body. All of these options are available
through the TV's Menu so you do have the functions available for
use. However it was just not included in the TV remote, I do not
find this bothers me but it might bother others. Also this does not
illuminate itself in the dark so you better be prepared to memorize
the buttons fast. Or you can always by a Good Universal controller
That does.

Overall This TV is Amazing for the price!

I am very satisfied, especially since I'm not interested in current 3D
technology as I can very well ride it out for 3 more years until real 3D
Glasses-less technology becomes more prominent. Regardless I love my TV
and for the price I'm sure you would too!

Ps. I will update if I have any hardware problems in the future!"  -L. Ricardo "Lric"-
"I've been researching TVs for a while and this is the ONLY TV in my price range that had my select list of features -- most notably 120hz refresh rate with a way to adjust the dejudder (Vizio's smooth motion feature). TV was set up in 30 mins, and most of that was me coordinating other component cables. Picture is epic. Sound is good. Only issues so far: 24hrs of Picture Jumping that went away on its own accord, and the sound feature that is supposed to even out the different sound feeds doesn't work too well. Commercial sound versus TV program sound. And sometimes I think the sounds goes up and down, but I haven't fully explored this yet. I'm going to hook up surround anyway. This TV was a great hybrid of quality, features and price. Highly recommend. (This 2011 TV replaces the 2010 E420VA.)" -Michael Beatrice-
"First off, delivery was fast and the TV came in undamaged. Normally, I'm fearful of any type of shipping short of white glove for big ticket items like TVs, but FedEx didn't disappoint.

The TV itself is nice. The picture is satisfactory, and there are a good number of options for tweaking picture. I found a nice mix myself. For the ~500 that I paid for it, I'm satisfied with the picture. There isn't anything to complain about the sound. While it's definitely not top of the line audio, there's no outright problems, and the sound is loud enough to fill a room. After you get to about 70 in volume, there's a slight buzz from the speakers, not noticeable unless you're less than a feet from them. For standard digital television, there is sometimes a slight lag between sound and picture. When there is, its very noticeable and throws the experience off. But even this can be solved. You can mess around with the audio and picture settings to sync them.

The inputs are probably the what I like most about the TV. Along with digital SPDIF audio output, this Vizio also comes with both analog RCA audio output (a dying feature), which is very convenient if, like me, your sound system isn't very new and comes with analog audio. There's a USB port, and 3 HDMI on the sides.

The last feature I will comment about is the remote control. There are no lights on the remote. Unless you've used it enough to have memorized every button on the remote, get used to searching for the buttons in the dark, or hassling yourself with turning the lights on. A minor problem, but inconvenient in a dark room".-DH-
